The Consultation:
Factors Dr. Anderson Must Consider
One's goals and other reasons that have promoted the decision to have this surgery.
The realistic outcome that should be expected with this procedure
Skin elasticity; Skin
texture; Skin color.
Underlying bone structure.
The rate of individual healing.
Ethnic background, as this may affect healing.
Medical history and age.
How is it Done?
Incisions are made starting at
the temple and then moving around the ear.
They are hidden
behind the ear and in the hair
The skin is lifted and
underlying muscles and connective tissues are tightened and
secured.
The skin is carefully redraped
to a natural look and the excess skin is removed. The skin is not overpulled, as this can lead to tissue
healing problems such as widening of scars, as well
as an unnatural look.
Incisions are closed with
fine sutures and staples which permit surgery without shaving
hair from the site.
When the procedure is
completed, a large bandage is wrapped around the face,
head, and neck.
Small rubber tubes
may be placed under this bandage to drain excess fluids. They are
easily removed the next day
