You eat healthy, you exercise, you've reached your weight goal, but you
just can't get rid of those unwanted areas of fat. If you have fat
deposits that are unresponsive to diet and exercise, we can help sculpt
the figure you desire with liposuction.
Dr. Anderson can remove excess curves around
the hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks, and knees. Liposuction can also be
performed on areas such as the upper arm, chin, neck, cheeks, and back.
Please keep in mind that liposuction is not meant to be a substitute for
weight loss. Nor will it eliminate cellulite. You'll need to maintain a
healthy diet and lifestyle in order to keep your remaining fat cells
from expanding.
What liposuction can do is remove small
areas of fat you have been unable to reduce through diet and exercise,
resulting in a shapelier, better-proportioned body.
Dr. Anderson use the most advanced procedures available, including
tumescent and ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty, to help you achieve the
slender figure you desire.
Below are some frequently asked questions. These are designed only to
provide you with general information regarding this procedure. We will
provide you with extensive information during your complimentary
consultation. Any further questions or concerns may also be addressed at
that time.

What is tumescent
liposuction?
A solution comprised of saline, local anesthetic, and adrenaline (to
help shrink the blood vessels) will be injected into the area that is to
be treated. This solution helps to reduce bruising and allows for a
shorter recovery time. A thin tube called a cannula will be inserted
within the layers of fat to help break it up and suction the fat out.
What will my
recovery be like?
Recovery is fairly rapid after your surgery. For the most part, you'll
be up and around the next day, able to return to work in three to seven
days, and able to resume your daily routine in about two weeks.
Strenuous activity should be avoided for two to four weeks. For several
days, you may need to
wear a special compression garment designed to reduce swelling and
bruising and to help the skin shrink to its new contours. The treated areas will be
swollen and bruised, so don't expect to see immediate results. You may
feel a burning sensation, stiffness, discoloration, soreness, and
numbness for a short period. However, this generally subsides in time.
The final results of your liposuction will be apparent in about
eight weeks, when most of the swelling goes down, although some swelling
may remain for up to six months.
What are the
risks?
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved such as
infection or bleeding. There is a slight possibility of fluid
collection, and embolisms can form in more extensive surgeries. Uneven
texture, loose skin, and discoloration are also possible. However, these
complications are rare. Loose skin that does not conform to your slimmer
shape can be removed, although this is a separate procedure. You must
adhere to a healthy diet and exercise regimen if you wish to sustain
lasting results. If you eat unhealthfully or excessively, you will
naturally gain weight and change the results.
Will there be
scarring?
Dr. Anderson can generally place the scars so they are hidden from view.
The incisions used in liposuction are very small, so any visible scars
will be virtually unnoticeable.
How do I know if
liposuction is right for me?
The best candidates for liposuction are men and women of normal weight
and good skin elasticity who wish to remove small, localized areas of
fat that have been unresponsive to diet and exercise. If you are
physically and emotionally healthy, and realistic in your expectations,
this procedure may be right for you.
