Shaping a smoother, flatter stomach
You long for tight abs and a washboard stomach. But no matter how many
sit-ups you do, no matter how carefully you watch your diet; it never
seems to get as flat as you want it to. The circumstances may be beyond
your control weak muscles, weight changes, pregnancy, even the simple
fact of genetics can cause your stomach to protrude. If the skin and
muscles have been stretched, diet and exercise may not be able to help
you achieve the look you desire.

Below are some frequently asked questions. These are designed only to
provide you with general information regarding this procedure. We will
provide you with extensive information during your complimentary
consultation. Any further questions or concerns may also be addressed at
that time.
What will my recovery
be like?
You can expect to feel some discomfort or pain following your procedure,
which can be relieved with medication. After one week, drains are
usually removed; sutures are removed in about 10 days. You may need to wear a support garment for
four to six weeks thereafter.
You should avoid strenuous activities such as heavy lifting and vigorous
exercise for several weeks. We will determine when it is safe for you to
resume your normal activities.
What are the risks?
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved such as
infection or bleeding. However, complications are rare.
Will there be
scarring?
This type of surgery will result in a permanent scar, and based on how
much reshaping is involved, it may be rather lengthy. However, every
effort is made to hide the scars in the bikini area, and they will fade
in time.
How do I know if
abdominoplasty is right for me?
The best candidates for abdominoplasty are those of normal weight who
have weak abdominal muscles and excess skin and fat that have been
unresponsive to diet or exercise. It is not recommended for women who
are planning to become pregnant in the near future. If you are
physically and emotionally healthy, and realistic in your expectations,
this procedure may be right for you.
What will it cost?
Most abdominoplasties cost
between $2,000 and $6,500. There are many factors to consider such as
how extensive the surgery will be and where the surgery will be
performed.
Abdominoplasties can be done
in several different ways. Many abdominoplasties rely on
cutting away of excess skin fat from below
the belly button. The abdominal wall may be tightened, but the operation
is limited to the lower portion of the abdomen.
In traditional abdominoplasties, the skin is
loosened all the way up to the rib cage and much more skin is removed.
The belly-button is left on its own stalk and is left in its original
position on the abdominal wall, but it is brought out through a separate
opening after the excess skin is removed.
Extended abdominoplasties carry the excess
skin removal up around the hips and may be continued as a buttock lift
as well.
